I couldn’t help but feel an unease gnawing at my insides. I had been away for a week and it’s been another week since my return. Where is she?
It’s my residential stray Mew. She usually hangs around near my place and would drop in for her kibbles. Discounting the week I was away, she had not appeared since my return and that’s unlike her. I have not seen her at her usual spots either.
The reason for my unease is also due to my recent observation that she’s not as healthy as she used to be. It’s been a number of years since I’ve sort of adopted her and given her the liberty of dropping in whenever she wants to, to have her kibbles and a comfortable spot to nap on.
For some time now I had observed her looking her age, a bit more scrawny and with a noticeable ‘bubbling’ sound in her chest. At times she would have a bit of heaving as if to cough out a hair ball. Her eyes too didn’t appear as bright as it used to be.
Why do I get this nagging feeling that perhaps …….
